Union Cabinet Expands Ayushman Bharat Scheme to Cover Senior Citizens Aged 70+

In a landmark decision, the Union Cabinet approved the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) on September 11, 2024, extending health coverage to all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of income. This move will benefit 6 crore senior citizens and 4.5 crore families, providing free health insurance of up to тВ╣5 lakh per family per year.
