The ‘Archakas Training’ Schools have been functioning in several temples including the Lord Arunachaleswarar Temple at Thiruvannamalai. As such, the interviews for appointment as ‘Archakas’ (who perform the various divine functions in the temple in the sanctum sanctorum of Gods and Goddesses and also in procession events) were conducted at the Sakthi Vilas Sabha located inside the Lord Arunachaleswarar temple complex. 26 candidates had applied for this. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that henceforth (from the Next Academic Year), qualification of M. Phil. (Master of Philosophy) will not be mandatory to pursue Ph. D. (Doctor of Philosophy)! The University Grants Commission has uploaded the draft announcement for pursuing Ph. D. on its official website. In this draft, it is mentioned that qualification of M. Phil. WILL NO LONGER BE MANDATORY to pursue Ph. D. Courses. This revised requirement will be effective from the next academic year – 2022-23. It is further mentioned that this revised condition will not cause any harm to the candidates who had already completed M. Phil. However, henceforth the qualification of M. Phil. will not be mandatory anymore for pursuing Ph. D. Courses.

State Bank of India (SBI) has informed that the Bank employees have planned to go on strike throughout the country on 28th & 29th March as a mark of protest against the central government’s plans to privatise the public sector banks and the plans to submit a petition to the parliament to modify the Bank Law Act, 2021. 26th March is the 2nd Saturday and 27th March falls on Sunday.
