Why these days many young & middle aged adults get strokes more than others?
When there is a disruption in the flow of blood to the brain, then we could get strokes. The strokes could be either due to the blocked flow or due to bursting of a blood vessel. In those persons who have been affected by strokes, there are possibilities of long term brain damage and death too. So, it is highly essential to get treated for strokes. People who are above 65 years of age are more prone to get strokes. The important piece of information is that once when a person crosses 55 years of age then the person has got twice the number of chances of getting affected with strokes. More middle aged adults get strokes: It was confirmed by a research study that there has been a 11% increase in the intracerebral hemorrhage strokes over a time of 15 years. In the younger as well as in the middle age adults, the number of stroke cases has been more. It must be noted that the intracerebral haemorrhage strokes are more deadlier when compared to other types of strokes. This type of strokes would occur when there is a rupture in the blood vessels present in the brain and bleed. Reasons for incidences of strokes in the middle aged adults: Truth is that these days in the middle aged adults the health conditions in them would increase the chances of getting strokes. Various reasons for getting strokes are high LDL levels, having hypertension for a long time, diabetes, vascular diseases etc. It has been brought out that in the middle aged adults between the age 40 to 59 factors like obesity, high cholesterol and high BP etc are too high. Overlooked symptoms: There are 30percent adults under the age of 45 who are unaware of the 5 common stroke symptoms like numbness of face, arms or legs, confusion , trouble in speaking, loss of balance, severe headache setc. Tips to follow lower strokes risk: The health experts have highlighted that almost 80% of strokes could be prevented by testing BP, blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Be Aware!! Those with high BP must not consume these vitamins as it could lead to heart attacks etc!!
Sometimes, the medications and supplements we take might be good for our overall health but not for our heart. Many people these days have a common health condition: high BP or blood pressure. It has been found out by some research studies that certain vitamin supplements that are important for the body functions could increase the blood pressure either by directly affecting the cardiovascular system or indirectly by interfering with the medications that are taken for controlling the blood pressure. Point is that unlike over the counter medications, vitamin supplements do not have to be given approval by any drug regulating body such as the FDA etc. Those persons who have high BP must not consume these vitamins. Avoid intake of vitamin E: It is noteworthy that excess intake of vitamin E could lead to blood thinning and fatal bleeding. It could interfere with blood clotting. Point is that blood clotting is the body`s natural defense mechanism against excess bleeding after an injury etc. By intake of excess amounts of vitamin E a person with high BP can also get hemorrhagic stroke. Avoid intake of vitamin K: Vitamin K also plays an important role in the clotting of blood. The bones would become healthy with the help of this vitamin. Intake of excess vitamin K Would interfere with the working of the blood thinning medicines. This would lead to more chances of getting heart attacks or strokes etc. Avoid intake of vitamin D: When a person with high BP takes vitamin D supplements for a long time, then it would create toxicity in the body of the person. It must be noted that vitamin D toxicity or hypervitaminosis D could be a serious issue that could lead to abnormal buildup of calcium in the blood. Those persons with vitamin D toxicity would show symptoms like abnormal heart beats, GI issues, kidney failure etc. Avoid intake of Arnica: Loaded with vitamins, Arnica when applied on the skin is safe but it must not be consumed as a pill or in other forms etc. Truth is that Arnica is used as a flavour ingredient in beverages, frozen desserts, baked goods etc.

Stretch marks today…will fade tomorrow!!!
Dr Sunil Kumar Prabhu, Senior Consultant Dermatologist and Aesthetic Physician, Aster RV Hospital Stretch marks (striae) are indented streaks that appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks or other places on the body. They’re common in pregnant women, especially during the last trimester. They also occur during adolescent growth spurt and by dieting or by putting on weight in adults and children. Stretch marks aren’t painful or harmful, but some people don’t like the way they make their skin look. Do stretch marks go away? Stretch marks fade with time; however, treatment may make them less noticeable more quickly. A stretch mark is a type of scar that develops when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly. The abrupt change causes the collagen and elastin, which support our skin, to rupture. As the skin heals, stretch marks may appear. How do I get rid of my stretch marks? Most stretch marks will fade on their own over time. They may become less noticeable after fading. Medical treatments for stretch marks are Scar lightening creams and Lotions Laser therapy. Lasers deliver focused light to the skin. … Microdermabrasion. … Micro needling. … Radiofrequency therapy. … Chemical peel. Are stretch marks unhealthy? If you have stretch marks, you probably wish they’d go away. These grooves or lines in your skin aren’t harmful to your health, but they aren’t great to look at, either. And even though they’ll never really go away, they might fade over time or with help from certain products and procedures. What are the main causes of stretch marks? The cause of stretch marks is stretching of the skin. Their severity is affected by several factors, including your genetics and the degree of stress on the skin. Your level of the hormone cortisol also might play a role. Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Effect on mental health While stretch marks are commonly associated with pregnancy, the permanency of the skin lesions causes pregnant women and pregnant individuals’ substantial embarrassment that can negatively impact pregnancy and their quality of life. Sometimes it tends to affect self-esteem and clothing choice. Stretch marks and the concerns for developing them may be contributing factors for depression or anxiety in the perinatal period, which affect up to one in seven women during pregnancy and postpartum. If uncontrolled or untreated, perinatal depression can lead to adverse pregnancy or neonatal outcomes. Bringing attention to the emotional and psychological impacts of stretch marks on patients can hopefully help in the identification and treatment of mental health disorders during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.
